Fire
Fire as an elemental force but also as an idea. The gallery invites photographic work that engages with fire as metaphor, condition and experience rather than simply as subject matter — images that consider the elemental through the psychological, the social, the environmental or the poetic. Work that reveals fire through gesture, light, atmosphere, colour, landscape, portraiture, abstraction or narrative is welcome, where the photograph evokes rather than describes. Not every fire burns. Open to photographers of all levels, in colour or black and white. Selected work hangs in Gallery X at the front of the space in Raleigh from September 4 to 30, 2026, with an opening reception on September 4, and is then presented on the gallery website year-round. Accepted artists may optionally have their work printed in-house on the gallery's Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-1100.
