Ethereal
A Photographer's Place is a Raleigh, North Carolina photography gallery and printing studio. "Ethereal" is the gallery's themed call exploring the intangible — work that evokes lightness, transience, and the space between what is seen and what is felt. The brief is interpretive: both traditional and experimental photographic processes are welcome.
The exhibition runs June 5 through July 1, 2026, with an opening reception on June 5 from 7 to 9 PM. Selection is by John Horowitz, a working photographer and curator with work held in Purdue University's permanent collection.
Selected artists may optionally have their work printed at the gallery on the Canon ImagePROGRAF Pro-1100 (the gallery's in-house printer) for an additional fee — an unusually integrated offering for an open-call exhibition.
Entry fee is $35 for up to 5 images. Eligibility is open to photographers of all skill levels. Submissions are JPEGs at minimum 3,000 pixels on the longest side, color or black and white, with titles for each image. Submissions go through Smarter Entry. The 2026 deadline is May 22; juror selections announced May 25; work delivery June 3; exhibition opens June 5.
