Emerging Berlin
Year-round local open call from Fotografiska’s Emerging programme, dedicated to supporting and showcasing image-makers with a distinctive visual language whose photographic practice embodies, represents and shapes a part of Berlin. Selected artists are given a platform at Fotografiska Berlin through solo or group exhibitions. An emerging artist here means a photographer or image-maker whose work has not yet been presented in an institutional museum exhibition but who has already developed a recognisable visual language — the definition is not tied to age, years of experience or formal education, and includes self-taught artists and those working outside traditional pathways. The call has run on an ongoing basis since 12 March 2026; submissions are reviewed by the jury every six months, followed by a curation period of up to two weeks. Open to anyone 18 or over — the Berlin connection is a criterion for the work, not a residency requirement.
