Contemporary Figures: A National Juried Exhibition

National juried exhibition of contemporary figurative work at LHUCA, the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts in Lubbock, Texas. The call asks how the body is understood in relation to environment, society and technology: scientific advances have made us more aware of the composition and processes of the human body while blurring the boundaries between the human and the nonhuman, and the body remains intimately tied to identity and to how we move in space and in relation to others. Figurative work addressing a range of themes and presenting the body in unique ways is welcome. Open to painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, collage, photography, digital art, ceramics, books and textiles; all works must hang on the wall and are capped at 36 by 36 inches, with plexiglass glazing required on anything shipped. Open to artists 18 or over living in the United States. Entry is $25 for up to two images. Cash prizes of $300, $200 and $100 plus a $50 honorable mention. Notifications 11 September 2026; the exhibition runs 2 October – 28 November 2026, with opening receptions on 2 October and 6 November during the First Friday Art Trail, which draws an estimated 5,000 visitors a month to LHUCA's galleries.
