A Celebration of Contemporary Photography
PhotoPlace Gallery is a photography gallery in Middlebury, Vermont, that programs juried thematic exhibitions on a rolling schedule. "A Celebration of Contemporary Photography" is one of the gallery's most open and inclusive calls of the year — explicitly framed as a celebration of the creativity, diversity, and evolving practice of photography today.
The exhibition is timed to World Photography Day (August 19) and welcomes all photographic subjects, styles, and processes — from traditional landscape and portraiture to experimental and alternative approaches.
Selection structure is layered: up to 35 images are selected for the physical exhibition in the Middlebury gallery, and up to 40 for the online gallery. All selected work appears in the exhibition catalog, remains permanently on the PhotoPlace website, and receives social media promotion with photographer URL links.
Selection is by Paula Tognarelli (former director of the Griffin Museum of Photography) and Zach Hoffman (Gallery Owner/Director).
AI-generated work is not accepted. Eligibility is open globally. Submission is through the gallery's website. Fee is $39 for up to 5 images plus $6 per additional image. The 2026 deadline is June 8, with the exhibition running August 7 through August 29, 2026.
