Best in Show
Kirkland Arts Center's first annual juried exhibition, built around the animals we live with. Each year the centre picks a different animal and leaves the interpretation entirely open; the 2026 subject is dogs, real or imaginary, abstract or representational. The call is open to Washington-based 2D and 3D artists of all ages working in any medium — photography included — with work no larger than 48 inches in height or width. Selected pieces are shown from 18 September to 9 October 2026 with an opening reception on 18 September, and a $500 prize goes to one winner in each of the 2D and 3D categories. Artists ship or deliver their own work ready to hang or display and include return postage; the centre takes 40% commission on sales. KAC was founded in 1962 and has occupied the historic Peter Kirk Building, built in 1893, for more than sixty years.
