Artifacts

A juried exhibition at 6 Bridges Gallery, a fine art and craft gallery on Main Street in Maynard, Massachusetts, built around the marks, remnants and meaningful objects that shape how we understand the world. The gallery is looking for work that uncovers the traces of what remains — hidden histories, personal relics, the quiet evidence of lives lived — and asks artists to think about what we carry forward, whether physical, emotional, cultural or imagined. All media are welcome except video and AI-generated work. The juror is Claudia Fiks, an independent curator and arts administrator of more than twenty years who founded and directs TAG | The Art Gallery at the New England Art Center in Boston's SoWa Art & Design District, directs Newton Open Studios, and writes on contemporary art for Artscope Magazine; she says she values authenticity, risk-taking, and work that communicates beyond the surface, regardless of medium or career stage. Open to artists 16 and over, up to three works made in the last three years, wired and ready to hang (no sawtooth hangers) and no larger than 40 inches in any direction. Three awards are given: the Artifact Award, Jurors' Choice and People's Choice. All work must be for sale and artists keep 60%. Work must be hand-delivered — the gallery does not accept shipped artwork. Notifications 9 September, drop-off 30 September – 3 October, exhibition 7 October – 14 November 2026 with a reception on 17 October.
