Alt+1000 9th Edition Open Call — Emerging Scene
Alt+1000 is an outdoor photography festival held biennially in La Vue-des-Alpes, in the Neuchâtel canton of Switzerland — the festival treats the alpine landscape itself as the exhibition space, with photographs installed across the mountain terrain rather than in a conventional gallery. The 2027 cycle is the festival's 9th edition.
The 2027 emerging-scene call is themed around the notion of jeu (play) in relation to landscape — including in-game photography, screen captures, photomontage, and visual exploration of digital environments and virtual playscapes. The brief expands what "landscape photography" can mean.
Four emerging photographers are selected. Each receives a CHF 800 honorarium, with all production, installation, and promotion covered by the festival. The 2027 festival runs September 18 through October 10. Capacity to adapt to outdoor exhibition is a primary evaluation criterion; proposals requiring electrical power are not accepted, given the alpine site.
Eligibility is restricted: applicants must be photographers or artists working with photography who are either currently enrolled at a Swiss art school or within five years of graduation in Switzerland. All photographic genres and techniques are welcome — artistic, conceptual, or documentary.
Submissions are made by email as a single ZIP file with the subject line "APPEL À PROJET ALT+1000 2027." Working languages are French and English. The 2027 cycle deadline is May 31, 2026; results announced June 30, 2026.
