51st Juried Annual Exhibition

The Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay opens its 51st Juried Annual, the Door County institution’s long-running survey of two-dimensional work by artists living in Wisconsin. It is open to artists 18 and over at every career stage, from emerging to established professional, and accepts original hangable 2D work in any media made within the past two years — photography very much included; the 2026 prospectus cover pairs Nika McKagen’s silver gelatin print with an oil painting. A panel of jurors reviews projected digital entries, and $1,950 in cash awards is presented at the opening reception on September 18: the Gerhard Miller Award of Excellence ($500), three Special Merit Awards ($250 each), three Juror’s Choice Awards ($200 each) and the Bonnie Hartmann Award for Outstanding Creativity ($100). Work may not exceed 48 x 48 x 5 inches including framing, must be a single unit (no diptychs or triptychs) and cannot have been shown previously in Door County; giclée and other reproductions are not eligible, nor is work made under a teacher’s direction in a class or workshop. The exhibition runs September 18 to November 7, 2026. Work may or may not be offered for sale; the museum retains a 40% commission on sales.
