Women in Nature — Artist's Commission
Women in Nature is a photographic commission jointly administered by Tóchar Midlands Wetland Restoration and Photo Museum Ireland (the Dublin-based photography museum). The commission's brief is specific: highlight the work of women in nature restoration across Ireland.
A single artist receives the €15,000 commission (including a €3,000 travel bursary) to create a series of 12 portraits of women working in restoration, alongside photographs of the habitats they are working to restore. The commission output is layered: exhibitions, community conversations, and a publication.
Selection criteria are formally weighted: creativity and originality (25%), technical skill and execution (20%), impact and storytelling (15%), and track record (10%) — the remainder is at the jury's discretion.
Eligibility is restricted to artists resident on the island of Ireland working in photography or lens-based media. The commission is co-financed by the EU Just Transition Fund and the Government of Ireland.
Application is free, made through Google Form with 10–20 images. The 2026 deadline was April 20.
