THAT ONE PHOTOGRAPH
Decagon Gallery is an online curatorial platform that runs themed photography exhibitions with published catalogs and social distribution. "That One Photograph" is the gallery's single-image call for the photograph that carries weight tied to memory, attachment, intimacy, grief, distance, tenderness, longing, or time. The brief explicitly de-prioritizes portfolio-best work — the gallery wants images that 'continue to live inside' the photographer rather than technically perfect frames.
Cash awards total $1,000 across five placements: $500 first place plus a solo website exhibition, $250 second, $150 third, and two $50 honorable mentions. A separate Human Presence Nomination offers free entry to a future open call. All selected photographers receive a dedicated exhibition page, Instagram feature, and catalog placement. The 2026 exhibition runs July 1 through September 1.
Selection is by the Decagon Gallery team. All photographic styles and processes are welcome.
Submissions are JPG at 2100 pixels on the long side — no text, watermarks, or borders — plus one short sentence describing what 'continues to live inside' the image. One photograph per entry. Entry fee is $15. Eligibility is open to photographers worldwide aged 18 and over. The 2026 deadline is June 20 at 11:59 PM Eastern; results announced June 28.
