SCAN Full Contact 2026
SCAN International Photography Festival is a Catalan photography festival held in Tarragona, organized by the Tarragona City Council. "Full Contact" is the festival's professional portfolio-review program, with the 2026 edition being the inaugural cycle.
The structure is a one-day meeting rather than an open exhibition. Twelve emerging photographers are selected for a portfolio-review and networking day at Teatret del Port in the El Serrallo waterfront district of Tarragona, October 17, 2026 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Each photographer presents their work in person to over 20 art-world professionals, with accommodation for the opening night, welcome dinner, professional lunch, and festival access all covered.
From the twelve selected, one project receives the Full Contact Award: a solo exhibition during SCAN's 2027 official programme plus a €900 fee (including tax) covering exhibition and communication rights.
Selection is by Ada Sbriccoli (independent curator, researcher, lecturer) and Arola Valls Bofill (independent curator, researcher, lecturer).
Submission and participation are entirely free of charge for selected artists. Eligibility is restricted to photographers of legal age residing in any country of the European Union or the United Kingdom. The brief is broad: any photographic series telling a story on any subject, with selection emphasis on visual storytelling among emerging artists. Submissions accept up to 16 photographs in JPG format (minimum 2,000 pixels on the shortest side, ZIP file max 30 MB), with optional supplementary PDF. The 2026 deadline is May 10 at 11:59 PM.
