PhMuseum Days 2026 Open Call
PhMuseum Days is the annual photography festival organized by PhMuseum in Bologna, Italy. The 2026 cycle is the 5th edition, running October 1–4, 2026 at the Ex Ospedale dei Bastardini venue. The 2026 theme is "Archipelago," exploring crisis and new models of coexistence.
The selection structure is layered. At least 3 photographers receive solo exhibitions at the main venue with substantial production support: a production budget of up to €2,500 plus VAT, a €300 artist fee, and a travel contribution scaled by region (€300 for Italy, €500 for Europe, €800 for overseas). One additional photographer is selected for a public billboard installation across 11 sites in Bologna's historical center, with €300 fee plus travel support.
Beyond solo placements, up to 40 images are selected for a sculptural collective installation (running September 19 through October 8 alongside the festival), and up to 20 projects are chosen for video screenings. The MPB Special Mention awards a €1,000 voucher for used photography gear.
The 2026 jury comprises Tara L.C. Sood (photographer/filmmaker), Pacifico Silano (visual artist), Rita Puig-Serra Costa (photographer), and Giuseppe Oliverio (PhMuseum's Founding and Artistic Director).
Entry fee is $38 (extended-deadline pricing). Submissions accept 5 to 20 photos as JPG/PNG at maximum 20MB each. Collaborative projects, works-in-progress, and previously submitted work are all accepted. AI-generated work is accepted but must be disclosed. All applicants receive free festival passes. The 2026 deadline is May 14.
