Fotografiska Emerging Portfolio Review 2026

Fotografiska Emerging is the international photography platform run by Fotografiska, the museum group with locations in Stockholm, Tallinn, Berlin, New York, and Shanghai. The Portfolio Review is a recurring open call where selected photographers get direct one-on-one feedback from senior Fotografiska curators — pitched as a developmental opportunity rather than a prize competition.

Selected applicants are paired with one of two reviewers: Jessica Jarl, Global Director of Exhibitions based in Stockholm, or Thomas Schäfer, Director of Exhibitions at Fotografiska Berlin. Each session runs 20 minutes online in English. Reviews are oriented around understanding where a project is headed — exhibition, editorial, or further development — rather than generic feedback.

Submission is free. Applicants submit a visual project with clear narrative — a series that holds together and functions as a cohesive body of work rather than individual frames. Open to image-makers of all levels with no nationality restriction.

The 2026 deadline is June 15 at 10:00 AM CEST; the review day is July 3, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM CEST. Selected applicants must be available for the review window.
