Cumberland Valley Photographers 2026

Cumberland Valley Photographers is the annual regional juried photography exhibition at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts (WCMFA) in Hagerstown, Maryland — a museum founded in 1931 with a permanent collection across American and European art.

The 2026 edition is built around the United States' approaching 250th anniversary. The brief structures four thematic prompts: Unfinished Revolutions, Power of Place, Tell Everyone's Story, and American Experiment. Photographers may respond literally or metaphorically through documentary, conceptual, figurative, or abstract approaches.

All photographic processes are accepted — no medium restriction. Eligibility is geographically restricted to photographers from Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC.

The exhibition runs June 20 – October 11, 2026 — a notably long four-month run for a museum exhibition.

Submission is through Smarter Entry with up to 4 works. Fee is $15. Prize pool is $3,000+. The 2026 application window was April 1–30; results announced May 8, 2026.
