Artadia Awards 2026 — New York City

Artadia is a US grantmaking organization that runs unrestricted merit-based grants for contemporary visual artists in seven cities across the year — New York (April), San Francisco (May–June), Boston (August–September), Atlanta (September–October), and Houston (October–November), among others. The 2026 New York City cycle awards three grants of $15,000 each.

The structural premise: grants are unrestricted — recipients can use the funds for any purpose. Photography is eligible alongside other visual art disciplines. AI-generated work is accepted but must be disclosed.

The selection process is two-round. First, curators review written applications. Six finalists then have 45-minute virtual studio visits with the curatorial panel. Non-selected finalists receive honorariums — the studio visit itself is treated as worth compensating.

Past awardees have gone on to be featured in the Whitney Biennial and Prospect New Orleans. Eligibility is restricted to artists based in the relevant city for each cycle.

Application is free, made through Submittable with 8 images. The 2026 NYC deadline was April 1.
