A Show of Hands

Blue Sky, the Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts, is a long-running Portland nonprofit photography gallery founded in 1975. A Show of Hands is one of its 50th anniversary online exhibitions.

The brief frames hands as both intimate and collective — symbols of connection, expression, and care, from quiet gestures to mass movements. Photographers are invited to bring their own approach: documentary, conceptual, staged or otherwise.

Selection is made by a Blue Sky committee. The chosen works are presented in an online exhibition launching July 2, 2026 on the gallery's website. Works are not offered for sale; this is a visibility-and-platform call rather than a commercial one.

Submission is free and open to all — Blue Sky membership is not required. Photographers send up to three images via Google Form, max 1500px on the long edge, named lastname_firstname_title.jpg. Deadline 12 June 2026, 4:59 PM Pacific.
