2026 Call for Exhibiting Artists

Baton Rouge Gallery — center for contemporary art, founded in 1966 and one of America's oldest artist cooperatives — opens its annual application to join a roster of more than 75 Exhibiting Artists working across a wide range of media. Members show in the gallery's 2,800 square foot space, keep 60% of all sales of their work, are represented on the gallery website, get a discount at Mo's Art Supply, and have a genuine voice in how the organisation runs: exhibiting artists vote on which special exhibitions to host and which artists to invite to join. In return, members exhibit at least once every three years in month-long shows, help with receptions, talks and installation, and pay $100 in annual dues, with opportunities to offset that cost; membership is reviewed every five years. Open to artists 18 and over who are at least two years removed from formal art education — no student work or work made under supervision — and who can show Louisiana residency or explain their relationship to Baton Rouge or the state; once accepted, artists may keep their membership if they move away. Applications are juried in two rounds on craftsmanship, originality, quality of presentation and professional experience.
